Choosing the right tablecloth size is one of the most common questions we receive from event planners, church coordinators, and corporate PAs across Gauteng. This guide covers every standard table type used at South African events.
| Table Diameter | Seats | Cloth Size (floor length) | Cloth Size (lap length) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 120cm (4ft) | 4–6 | 230cm | 180cm |
| 150cm (5ft) | 8–10 | 300cm | 230cm |
| 180cm (6ft) | 10–12 | 330cm | 270cm |
| Custom | 14+ | Custom | Custom |
Floor length = cloth touches the floor. Lap length = cloth hangs approximately 30cm below the table edge.
| Table Size | Seats | Cloth Size (floor length) |
|---|---|---|
| 152×76cm (standard) | 6–8 | 152×213cm |
| 183×76cm (6ft) | 8–10 | 152×274cm |
| 244×76cm (8ft) | 10–12 | 152×305cm |
| Trestle Length | Cover Size | Style |
|---|---|---|
| 1.8m (6ft) | Fitted 1.8m cover | Fitted (no bunching) |
| 2.4m (8ft) | Fitted 2.4m cover | Fitted (no bunching) |
The formula for a floor-length tablecloth is: Table diameter + (2 × table height). Standard South African event tables are 75cm high. So for a 150cm round table: 150 + (2 × 75) = 300cm cloth.
For a lap-length drop (approximately 30cm), use: Table diameter + (2 × 30cm). So for a 150cm round table: 150 + 60 = 210cm cloth.
